UST vs Ateneo Shakey's V-League 7th Season 1st Conference Quarterfinals
Set 1
SET 2
SET 3
SET 4
Fille Cainglet has been very significant for this game. That she even challenged the likes of Aiza Maizo. Even Angge Tabaquero was blocked.
This has been an unfortunate game as Lady Eagles superstar Charo Soriano was injured during the game.
Thankfully she has now recovered.
The Lady Eagles almost took the fourth set from the Lady Tigresses in their quarterfinals game.
When it mattered most, the Lady Tigresses' defense was again put into action to assert itself as the #2 team in the Shakey's V-League 7th Season 1st Conference coming into the semi finals.
The video's highlight is UST's 27th point courtesy of Mary Jean Balse.
Set 5
Jem Ferrer is one of the smartest setter in the league doing her drop balls.
Aiza Maizo, then MVP of the season, still showed her performance for UST's 3rd point as well as Maru Banaticla for the 5th point.
Re-live the moment where Maru did a pancake save plus Rhea's block that converted UST's defense to an offense, their 7th point.
Aiza Maizo's back row attack is still UST's top option for UST's 9th point.
UST's arsenal of attackers is as solid as their blocking prowess as they triumphed over the Lady Eagles during the 7th Season, 1st conference of the Shakey's V-League.
SET 2
SET 3
SET 4
Mary Jean Balse's defensive abilities are still intact in this game.
While on the other court, Sontaya's attacks were powerful as well.
Angge Tabaquero should be also credited for she performed a superb defense when she was at the back row.

Start of the Shakey's V-League 7th Season Conference 1
The Shakey's V-League 7th Season 1st Conference officially opened yesterday, April 11, 2010 at The Arena in San Juan City. Shakey's contribution in uplifting one of the most well loved sports by the Filipino started way back in 2004, with some of the pioneers in the collegiate volleyball that stayed up until now.
With the growing fondness of the Filipinos with this sport, the tournament itself is one of the many steps that we will take to harness potential volleyball players in the country and to reign again as volleyball superstars in Southeast Asia.
Now at its 7th season, the Shakey's V-League adopts a new format in the tournament proper. 10 teams are now participating and divided into two groups playing via the round robin format. Under this new scheme, 3 Visayan Schools join the league at this early stage of the game.
To start of the game, College of St. Benilde went up against Ateneo De Manila University wherein the latter won in 3 straight sets. With Soriano and Sontaya as their guest players, the Lady Eagles were able to pull a win against the Lady Blazers though the scores on each set was rather a close one. Player of the Game was Fille Cainglet.
In the main event, old school rivalry was rekindled as the last conference's champions UST Lady Tigresses went up against the FEU Lady Tamaraws. Winning the match in 3 straight sets, the game was relatively a breeze for the Lady Tigresses despite having only one guest player which is Mary Jean Balse. On the other hand, two new guest players for FEU, Yongco and Dela Cruz's performance was not totally a solid one as the Lady Tamaraws are under a wing of a new coach.
Tune in again for the latest news in the Shakey's V-League!

Shakey's V-League 7th Season
Upon checking the league's official website, www.v-league.ph, the premier women's volleyball league in the country will now have 10 teams on its line up with three (3) Visayan Teams, namely: University of San Jose - Recoletos (USJ-R), Southwestern University (SWU) and University of St. La Salle - Bacolod.
The Visayan Teams usually come in during the quarter finals, now all is but an equal playing field in bagging the championship crown. SWU will be treated as a Metro Manila team replacing the UP Fighting Maroons who is preparing its roster for the 2nd season this July, 2010.
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) ended the 6th conference with a twin win, getting back-to-back titles, making them the winningest team in the league with 5 titles, next is DLSU with 4. DLSU has the title of the most back to back championship titles of 3.
The UAAP and NCAA schools are ever ready to step into the volleyball court once again for school pride and team honor. Excerpts from v-league.ph:
"Under the format, the 10 teams will be divided into two groups and play a one-round robin elims with the top four squads from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. The Last 8 will again be grouped into two and play a single round with the top two teams in each group clashing in a pair of crossover semis. Winners will then clash for the crown in another best-of-three affair.
Playdates are set on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 2 p.m. Games will be shown on a delayed basis the following playdate on NBN 4 although matches can be viewed live on webcast at www.v-league.ph."
V-League photo came from the internet.

Lady Tigresses Took Game 1 of Best of Three Finals
It boils down to the finals. Defending champions De La Salle goes up against the lady tigresses for game 1 of the best of 3 for Season 72 of UAAP women's volleyball.
The lady tigresses led the set early on but the lady archers managed to catch up after a series of exchange hits from both teams. A very close first set, the lady archers were able to get the first set, 26-24.
On the second set, the lady archers still used Garbin as their setter, while on the otherside, veteran libero Curato started to play. Long rallies, power hits, quick sets between both teams were exchanged. The lady tigresses took the second set, 25-23.
It was a different 3rd set as the lady tigresses started to pull away early on the set. On this set, there were lots of loose balls, errors, service aces and smart plays from both teams. But the lady tigresses capitalized over the lady archers on this set, 25-16.
At the 4th set, it was still a slow start for the lady archers as the lady tigresses capitalized on the archer's errors. The set was close until the 20th point. There was a slight contention of Siy commiting net error on the 20th point. The lady tigresses took the set and game 1, 25-21.
This has been the only game between both teams wherein it lasted only 4 sets. Their first meeting, DLSU won, the second, UST won, both a thrilling 5 set.
Each team has their own "statements," green hair streaks and arm bands for the lady archers, braided hairs and colorful shoe laces for the lady tigresses.
